The calm sea has a low sandy bed, 100 mt from the beach, which makes it particularly good for all water sports for all ages and fitness level.
Particularly suitable for freeride / freestyle: sandy bottom, no danger, exposed to all winds. It is located in an extremely suggestive scenario of a bay where a thermal wind (Mistral) blows daily from April to October. In the other periods it is still very windy even if not regular.
The cycle of a typical summer day normally allows you to do the first exercises with light breezes and then move on to 12/18 of the local thermal wind, which rises around 12.00 on high pressure days coming from the NW. The Scirocco (SE), which often blows with strong intensity, is particularly suitable for making waves.
If the thermal is not enough for your level it is advisable to move to the small bay of Talamone, on the beach called Fertilia, if you want to reach it from Campo Regio also by surfing. The particular geographic / topographical conformation of this place creates an acceleration effect of the wind that also increases by 6-8 knots.
It is surprising how despite the strong wind the water remains flat in the first two miles. Here, too, the water remains very low up to 200 meters from the shore.
From the beach, a few meters from the camping pitches, you can enjoy the view of the nearby promontories of Talamone and Argentario, the islands of the Tuscan Archipelago (Giglio, Giannutri, Montecristo, Elba) and, on clear days, the mountain peaks of Corsica.
All the islands can be reached by comfortable ferry boats from the nearby Porto Santo Stefano (km 18 c.a.). Other tourist destinations a few kilometers away are the Etruscan cities of Cosa, Roselle, Tarquinia and the medieval villages perched on the hills (Vulci, Capalbio, Pitigliano, Sovana, Sorano, etc.), as well as Saturnia with its famous 37-degree hot springs.
